Durasol was founded in 1984.  Our manufacturing and corporate headquarters are located in Middletown, NY, 60 miles north of New York City, in the Hudson Valley.  With over 100,000 square feet of state-of-the-art production floor space, Durasol produces world-class motorized patio awnings and motorized window awnings that add lasting value to homes and businesses.

For over 25 years, Durasol has been providing service and benefits to our loyal dealer network that is unmatched in North America.  Durasol has direct access to the research, development, and innovation of one of the world's largest awning manufacturers; our parent company BAT SpA.

The Durasol Commercial awning office was founded in 1976 by a local business man in Vermont who successfully grew and expanded the company.  In 2003, the Middlebury office became the home of Durasol's Commercial Awning Division, handling the manufacturing and installation for retail and restaurant groups, developers, and general contractors located throughout the US and Canada.

The Durasol Awning's strength and durability of our shading systems come from alloyed aluminum components that are vacuum-injection; cast molded, a process that can only be performed in a handful of Foundries throughout the world. The advantage of vacuum injection-cast molding is that it allows us to create beautiful and functional shading systems with consistent quality and unsurpassed strength, unmatched by any other brand of awning.

Durasol Awnings are designed to work in harmony with tension weighted arms and a load absorbing torsion bar, allowing the unit to function and adjust gracefully to changing weather conditions. And, because each awning we produce is individually made to compliment your home, it offers you the flexibility to meet your desired needs.

We offer a variety of products that can be mounted on virtually any flat surface, under a soffit, or when limited mounting height is available, can be roof mounted, using specially designed brackets. The roof mount application allows the shading system to be fastened directly into the roof rafters then the brackets are permanently bonded to the shingles, guaranteeing a waterproof seal. An optional hood is also available on most models to protect your awning from the elements when retracted.

Over 80% of Durasol Awnings are ordered with an optional tubular motor. We incorporate the world's finest tubular motors and state-of-the-art electronic controls from Somfy. A motorized Durasol Awning provides effortless, push-button operation, allowing you to stop the unit at any desired position. When you desire complete extension or retraction, just touch the control switch and walk away - the unit will stop automatically.

Technology - Motors & Electronics

Motors and electronic accessories are an intricate part of the shading systems we produce. Over 80% of the units we produce have an optional motor and electronics included. The reason is simple, customers gain easy and simple control over the sun with a simple flip of a switch or a touch of a button. This ease and convenience greatly increases both product usage and customer satisfaction. By motorizing your Durasol awning, you will effortlessly extend or retract your shading system automatically.

Electric motors are fully contained within the roller tube of the awning for a clean, concealed installation that blends right into the lines of your home. And they're sealed, too, so they require no maintenance for years of trouble-free service, backed by a 5-year warranty.

Somfy motors and electronics, used exclusively by Durasol, are approved by Underwriters Laboratory and have been installed all over the world for almost three decades. Somfy is the acknowledged world leader in the design and manufacture of tubular motors and electronic controls. Somfy and Durasol work together, providing our customers with the highest level of quality products. This commitment is reflected in our high customer satisfaction and referral rates. Every unit we produce is carefully tested at our production facilities before it ships, guaranteeing you performance and value.

Durasol utilizes a large variety of Somfy motors, allowing us to select the correct unit based on torque and speed for each application. Durasol offers 2 basic series of these motors, the standard series, and the override series. By opting for the override series, you can extend or retract your awning with a hand crank in the event of a power failure.

Our wireless controls eliminate the need for an electrician to run wires through your walls. The security of billion-code technology means that you have a unique, secure code. Our hard wire wall switches come in a variety of colors and styles to match your decor.
